Similarly, the only reason your friend can view the videos on her computer is because she playing the DVD through the program that was used to create the videos for you. If you're videographer friend can play the files successfully on her computer, and you cannot, then chances are the DVD only contains files that allow for DVD player playback. But that's not always the case with non-commercially produced DVDs, which tend to house only files for DVD player-based playback. Having said that, it should be stated that commercially made DVDs usually have two sets of files written on them, one that allows for computer-based playback and one that allows for DVD player-based playback. ![]() To use VLC Player, right-click over the file you want to play and from the menu that appears, select "Open With" and then "VLC Player." That will launch the file in the player.
